World Tourism Day

Within the framework of the endeavours made by the faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management to keep up with the latest developments in the tourism and hotel management industries on the local, regional and international levels, the faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management celebrated the World Tourism Day on Thursday 4 /10 /2018. The World Tourism Day takes the theme of “Tourism and the Digital Transformation” for this year. The celebration was held in the presence of Mr. Osama Elkholy, the Director-General of the Tourism Bureau in Alexandria; Associate Prof. Reem Alnashar, the Dean of the Higher Institute of Tourism and Hotels and Dr. Yehia Abou El Hassan, the Head of the E-Tourism Association. This was held under the supervision of Prof. Amany Refaat, the Dean of the faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management. At the beginning of the day, Associate Prof. Lamiaa Ibrahim gave a word in which she welcomed the attendees and explained the great transformation occurred to tourism and travel industries as a result of the latest technology. Then, a presentation on the World Tourism Day and the reasons behind choosing the theme it takes for this year was shown. The attendees were interested to discuss several points; the most prominent of which were the future of tourism companies in Egypt under the new technologies, the latest technologies in the tourism and travel industries and the importance of employing the digital marketing and the latest technology in the tourism industry. An open discussion was held by the end of the day to answer the inquiries of the students.
