Global Understanding (GU) is a joint program between Pharos University in Alexandria, East Carolina University and fellow global partners in Education (GPE) members:
It is a set of linking days in which students get to link with their GU partners and exchange productive discussions about pre-set topics.

Linking Days Topics:

Linking Day 1: PUA Students and their GU partners are to work together collaboratively to develop one short (20 minute maximum) presentation/lecture on their own country/culture/university.
Linking Day 2: College life
Linking Day 3: Family/ Cultural Traditions
Linking Day 4: Meaning of life and Religion/ Stereotypes/ Prejudices
Linking Day 5: Collaborative Projects Presentations

Global Understanding (GU) program aims at:

  • Encouraging students to speak their mind and speak freely in an attempt to boost their self-confidence.
  • Granting students the opportunity to engage in a cross-cultural experience in which students get to communicate with native speakers, hence improving their English proficiency level.
  • Acquainting students with various cultures all over the world.
  • Giving students the chance to rectify any false preconceived notions about Egyptians and the Egyptian culture.

PUA and ECU students meet Mondays and Wednesdays of every week.
