Biography:
Abeer is an Educational and Training Development Consultant at Pharos University in Alexandria, where she has been and continues to be the Director of the English Language Centre, CELTA Centre Manager, and as well as CELTA/DELTA Tutor since 2013. As the Director of studies at Pharos University in Alexandria English Language Centre, Abeer is responsible for the academic operations of the English language programs: General English programs, Professional Development Unit, and Testing Unit. Abeer is also responsible for supervising the implementation of hybrid learning and material designing. Her career as a teacher and teacher trainer began in the late 1990s, after majoring in English Literature at Purdue University-USA, and obtaining a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the American University in Cairo (AUC). She also took an intensive teacher training program in Exeter College, Oxford, the UK in Summer 2010.
Abeer has 26 years of experience, eleven of which focused on strategic and organizational management. Her vast experience varied from management and training, to designing material, teaching at private schools, the AUC, and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST) as well as America-Mideast Educational & Training Services (AMIDEAST).
Abeer has published in international journals, done training in Ireland, the USA, the UK, KSA, Kyiv, and South Africa, and presented at several conferences. Abeer has dedicated much of her energy to supporting teachers in their practice, through CELTA and professional development training. Her commitment to mentoring teachers also led her in 2013 to study for a Certificate in Leadership and Coaching from Vancouver Community College and she continues to observe lessons and provide guidance and feedback. Abeer is a consultant for TransformELT, NILE, EAQUALS and British Council Egypt. She is an active member of IATEFL LTSIG, ELT Ireland, Nile TESOL, ELT Ireland, TESOL International Association, International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT) and English Without Borders (EWB). Abeer does a lot of volunteer work; one of which is reviewing manuscripts for the Journal of Education and Learning, and writing chapter reviews; besides being the past content manager of the IATEFL LTSIG, and mentoring teachers of Algeria as part of the Equal Voices in ELT (EVE Algeria) initiative.
Abeer’s professional special interests are teacher training, materials development, management and leadership, ICT and working closely on her staff’s professional development.
Biography:
Andrew is the Administrative Director of the English Language Centre.
He got his Bachelor of Arts and Education from the Faculty of Education, English department in 2010. In 2015, he completed the Data Wise course from Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2017 and 2018, he earned a Professional Diploma and a Specialised Diploma in Education from Alexandria University. He started focusing his studies on language assessment after he completed the Testing, Evaluation and Assessment course from Norwich Institute for Language Education. In 2022, he obtained a CPD-certified Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management. He also finished the Management Appreciation Program from Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University. He holds a Masters of Arts degree from Alexandria University in Education majoring in language assessment.
With a wide-ranging background in k-12 and adult language teaching, teacher training, corporate training and language assessment, Andrew has a proven track record with several reputable institutions such as College de la Mere de Dieu, Cambridge Assessment English, Nahdet Misr Publishing House, Trinity College London and goFLUENT. He has been working at PUA English Language Centre since 2016.
Andrew presented in different international conferences such as the Annual Convention of the Association of Catalonia English Language Educators at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, the Annual Professional Development Conference at The Management Education and Research Institute in New Delhi, the International Language Assessment Conference at The American University in Cairo, International Conference on Effective Teaching & Learning in Higher Education at the American University of Beirut and the International Education Summit.

Biography:
DALIA IS THE SENIOR ACADEMIC COORDINATOR
I currently hold the position of Senior Academic Coordinator at Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA). My main role is to provide mentorship to coordinators and deliver training to teachers. My role also encompasses the development of a comprehensive curriculum spanning from A1 to C2 levels, as well as ensuring overall educational quality.
In addition to my university responsibilities, I am a teacher and teacher trainer who genuinely enjoys sharing my knowledge while also being open to learning from the people I meet.
Throughout my journey, I have acquired experience in training both pre-service and in-service teachers across diverse educational settings, including language centers, schools, and universities.
I also enjoy sharing my knowledge and insights in international webinars and conferences. I cherish the opportunity to engage with educators from around the world, valuing the reciprocal nature of learning and the chance to grow together within the educational community.

Biography:
Mariam graduated from the Faculty of Arts English Department. She received her TEFL diploma from Notting Hill (February 2013). Her professional career covers a number of prestigious institutions. She participated in a joint Junior Summer Program held at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport by the AUC (June 1997- September 1997). She also worked at AMIDEAST, where she taught English summer courses for children (June 1998- September 1998). Mariam taught both elementary and intermediate levels of English in a number of well-known English schools. She worked in Girard School as an English teacher (October 1998- September 2003). Also, she worked in El-Ekbal National School (September 2005-August 2007). Mariam has been working in Pharos University since December 2010.

Biography:
Magda is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts, English Department – Linguistics and Translation Section, Alexandria University. She received an Advanced Translation Diploma certified by Intel, UNESCO and the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Berlitz Proficiency Levels Course in English Language (June 2012- August 2012). She taught ESP and general English to adults for the institute of ASEB (July 2013- July 2014). Magda has been working in Pharos University since July 2014.

ACADEMIC SUPERVISOR AND INSTRUCTOR
Ayat graduated from the Faculty of Arts, English Department- Literature Section. She received a General English Teaching Course from the AASTMT (2002-2003) She received a diploma in Applied Linguistics from Alexandria University 2005. She worked as an English Language coordinator and instructor at the AASTMT (September 2004 – September 2011). She has been working in Pharos University since February 2015.

Mena is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts, English Department- Literature Section. She taught General English at the Russian Center (June 2008 – August 2012). She also taught English as a second language at the Egyptian English Language School (August 2012-June 2013). Furthermore, she taught English as a first language in the IGCSE department at House of English School (August 2013-November 2015). She has been working for Pharos University since November 2015.

Biography:
HEAD OF THE TESTING UNIT
Noha is a graduate from Faculty of Education, English Department, Alexandria University. She started her teaching career in New Zealand in 2008 as a teacher in the early childhood centers in Canterbury University. At the same time, she was a tutor in the children holiday programs for Christchurch city council. She also gave English courses to university Saudi students, and worked in An-Nur ECE center before travelling to Malaysia in 2011, where she attended intensive workshops to the I-Lift educational program, before becoming the sole marketing agent to it in Egypt. From August 2013- January 2015, she was the Manager of Zaitona Academy, an ECE center in Alexandria. In February 2015, she became the head of the foundation stage in Modern Education Language School. After she became a CELTA certified teacher in March 2016, she started teaching adults in the Arab Academy for Science, technology and Maritime Transport, and also in Sadat Academy. Noha has been working in Pharos University since September 2016.

Gehad is a graduate of the Faculty of Education, English Department, Alexandria University. She taught English at Modern Manar Language School (August 2009 – August 2014).She taught English at El-Ekbal Language School (September 2014_December 2017) She has been working for the Egyptian American Cultural Centre as an instructor for both children and adults since June 2010. She received her TEFL diploma in September 2014 at Notting-Hill College. She attended workshop on Effective Teaching. She completed a conversation course at the Arab Academy for Technology and Science (2009). Gehad has been working in Pharos University since March 2017.

Mirna is a graduate of the Faculty of Education, Department of English – General, Alexandria University in 2017. She had practical teaching training at Mohamed Ali El-Mesiri preparatory school in 2015-2016 and at El-Bitash for girls secondary school in 2016-2017. She attended a workshop run by Cambridge Training College London in English phonetics and conversation in 2015. She participated in a human development course held at Alexandria University in preparing a successful leader and thinking-supported learning in 2014. She has been working as an English instructor at Pharos University – English Language Centre since August 2017.

Amira received a B.A of Arts from Alexandria University, English Department in 2009. She received a General English Teaching Diploma from the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University in 2014. She is currently teaching English as a second language at Pharos University. She has been into teaching English since 2014; she worked in many places like international schools and private centres for general English courses and ILETS /TOFEL preparation courses with all ages and different levels. Her professional interests focus on communicative approaches to language teaching and cooperative learning.

ACADEMIC COORDINATOR AND INSTRUCTOR
Jailan is a CELTA-certified academic coordinator and English language instructor with six years of teaching experience. She teaches English as a second language to adults from various countries and backgrounds. Additionally, she has experience in teaching all levels of the English language, including Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced Plus students. As an academic coordinator, she’s responsible for developing and implementing instructional materials and curriculum programs.
She has always been passionate about teaching English as a second language to diverse learners. Throughout her teaching career, she has engaged in both classroom teaching and online instruction

Marwa El-sawy graduated from faculty of languages and translation pharos university class 2018, She majored in English, and she studied French as a second language. She is a passionate teacher. She worked in one of the internationally active institutions in Alexandria as an instructor for kids. Furthermore, she also worked in an IGCSE school. She is concerned with teaching kids and making crafts for them. She is interested in teaching adults as well, and that is what lead her to apply for being an English instructor in ELC. She has been working on her professional development by getting staff training as well as Pharos Conferences. And she is willing to be a CELTA holder.

Aliaa is a graduate of Faculty of Education, English department – General, Alexandria university in 2020. She had her practical teaching training at Sedi Beshr Language School in 2018 – 2020. She worked as an English instructor for kids at Engame Learning Kids Center and an English instructor for adults at Ministry of Defence Language Institute . She also attended Cairo University’s symposium on English literature and linguistics in November 2018. She is working now as an English instructor at Pharos university since March 2021, English Language Centre.

She worked as a teacher assistant at some English educational centres while studying at the faculty of Education. She attended one of our training sessions at PUA Professional Development Day. She also attended Cairo University’s symposium on English literature and linguistics in November 2018. She is working now as an English instructor at Pharos university, English Language Centre.

Merna Mamdouh graduated from Faculty of Education, English Department – General. She holds a BA degree in Arts and Education from Alexandria University (2020). She had her practical teaching training at Sidi Bishr experimental governmental school for girls in (2018- 2020). She worked as a teacher assistant in the summer break of 2019 at an English center. She also attended Professional Development Day workshop at PUA, ELC in December 2019. She is also taking two online courses one of which is at Arizona State University to earn a TESOL certificate and the other one is at University of California, Irvine to earn a certificate for mastering American English pronunciation. She is also planning to take the CELTA certificate. She started working at PUA English Language Center as a language instructor in September, 2020.
