Postponing Conference because of COVID-19

In view of air-travel / quarantine restriction in various countries, limitations on gatherings in Egypt and the possibility of a second wave of infections this fall, we concluded that postponing the conference by one year to Nov. 2021 would be the safest and best option.  Prospective authors are still encouraged to continue to submit their abstracts between now and end of March 2021.

Best wishes

The world is awash with waste energy rejected from various industrial plants, buildings, vehicles, etc. Besides being a waste, energy rejected to the atmosphere increases the carbon footprint of these installations contributing to global warming. There is an increasing evidence that Global Warming is the main cause of many recent natural disasters such as forest fires, hurricanes, flooding, droughts, etc., leading to lower life-safety and quality of life on our planet. A concerted effort from the scientific community around the world is urgently needed to develop means to reduce these effects and even reverse global warming. One way to do that is to minimize rejected energy by making our engineering equipment/installations more efficient and another way is by utilizing waste energy to power other integrated subsystems.

The Faculty of Engineering at Pharos University in collaboration with the KTH Royal Institute of Technology will share in the above-described efforts by organizing the Third International Conference on New Trends in Sustainable Energy with the theme: “from waste to energy”. This year’s conference strives is to bring together leading researchers, academicians, engineers, scientists and other stakeholders with interest in sustainability, from various countries around the globe, to present their work and exchange ideas and experiences along the theme of the conference. We warmly welcome authors to submit abstracts of their research papers or case studies for review to ICNTSE 2020 (ICNTSE@pua.edu.eg). After acceptance of the abstract, authors need to submit a manuscript of their full paper. Please see links to the left for deadlines and other information.

Conference Topics:

  • Energy Recovery Systems
  • Tri-generation: Combined Cooling, Heating and Power Systems (CCHP)
  • Producing Energy from Solid Waste
  • Energy Storage
  • Solar Energy
  • Wind and Wave Energy
  • Geothermal Energy
  • Energy Conservation in Buildings
  • Energy and Ecosystems
  • Sustainability in other Engineering Disciplines

Journal Publication:

High quality papers will be published free of charge in a special issue of the Journal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, which is published by Elsevier and indexed in SCOPUS, DOAJ and INSPEC; SiteScore= 3.6, SNIP=2.59, SJR=0.75. Also we are in discussion with another journal for an additional special issue.

Social Activities:

In conjunction with the conference, authors will have the opportunity to enjoy sightseeing in the historic city of Alexandria overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean. Established by Alexander the Great (more than 2300 years ago), Alexandria has been an international melting pot for various cultures and religions that left their marks on the city. Authors and their spouses can visit the recreated world-famous Library of Alexandria, the Citadel on “Pharos” island, museums and many other historic sites. All these are few miles away from Pharos University at the heart of the city. Moreover, modern Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt, has excellent facilities (hotels, entertainment, restaurants, beaches, transportation, etc.) with low to moderate pricing. So whatever you like, old, new or both, you will find it right here not far from the conference venue.
