Under the auspices of Prof. Hana Yassen, the Dean of faculty of Arts and Design, a seminar entitled “The Power of Colour in Defining Visual Identity” was held on Tuesday, 10 December 2019. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Amira Salah El Din, a Lecturer in the Décor Department who discussed the topic of colours and how they are considered the most important element in visual identity. Colours can convey several messages through their meanings in nature such as the colour psychological symbolism which is perceived by the psychological and cultural aspect of human. Colours also noticeably control people’s mood and feelings. Therefore, successful designs require an awareness on the part of designer of how to use colors while serving the purpose and mission of the design. The process of choosing colours is one of the most important processes among marketing professionals because it conveys meaning and message without words such as the brands images.
