Language and Social Media

A seminar on “Language and Social Media” was held at the faculty of Languages and Translation on Tuesday 31/10/2017. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Nour Abdeen, a Lecturer at the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Arts – Alexandria University and the Academic Director of the TAFL Program (Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language) which was designed for teachers. The seminar addressed the question of the effects of social media on the Arabic Language and how to safeguard language against those effects. Dr. Nour Abdeen worked also at other international programs like Arabic Overseas Flagship Programs in Morocco, Alexandria University, Michigan University, the Arabic Language Programs in Georgetown University, among many others. The seminar was held under the supervision of Prof. Leyla Kamel, the faculty Dean and Prof. Ramadan Abu El-Ala, the Vice President of Community Service and Environment Development Affairs. The seminar was coordinated by Mrs. Rania Bassiouny, the leader of the faculty student activities.
