The PUA Marketing Department, in coordination with the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, organized a competition entitled “Act Your Job” for students of the national and international high schools. This was held on Thursday, 12 December 2019 from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm.

The competition programme:

  1. Workshops convened at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management for high school students on the jobs they chose and considered in relation with the realms of tourism and hospitality including “Chef”, “Tour Guide” and “Air Hostess”.
  2. High school students then moved to the PUA Student Theatre to give a power point presentation on each job in terms of its regulations, history, costumes, most prominent figures, the impact of technology in the job’s development, required skills for practice, occupational hazards and the job’s future. This was followed by a performance of a one-act play for each of the aforementioned jobs.
  3. Assessment of the students’ presentations that include the additional information they collected during the workshops. This assessment was carried out by a panel of professors from different PUA faculties.
  4. Assessment of the students’ performances in the one-act play of each job and their ability to convey the nature of the job in terms of costumes and decorations.
