In preparation for the Space Science Competition held at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) in China, in which the team of the Mechanical Engineering Department, PUA’s Faculty of Engineering participates, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Anwar, lead researcher and supervisor of participating team, planned to promote the team members’ academic and cultural knowledge of the CubeSat.

 

This was done by participating in the Egyptian Space Day ceremonies, which were held at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, under the auspices of the Egyptian Space Agency, the Faculty of Engineering, Benha University, and Esri North Africa Co.

 

The event was opened with a recorded speech from Prof. Dr. Farouk El-Baz, who emphasized the importance of the space applications in our daily life.

 

This was followed by a speech by the organizers and sponsors, followed by a seminar on the space industry, its opportunities, and challenges. The event also included a number of lectures and presentations, during which a group of experts and specialists spoke about space technology and its history.

 

It is also worth noting that the event included an exhibition by the Egyptian Space Agency, where some miniature models of satellites were displayed. In addition to a display of the most important books, maps, and atlases, kept by the Map Library at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
