PUA’s Faculty of Pharmacy held the Scientific Day of the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Department. It took place in the presence of faculty members and the teaching assistants from the various departments of the Faculty. It was also held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Maged Al-Ghazouly, Dean, Prof. Dr. Rasha Shaalan, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Jihan Salah Labib, Head of Department.

 

The event included two lectures where two topics were discussed; first of which was Nephrology Polypharmacy Management: Clinical Pharmacy Perspective. It was delivered by Dr. Engy Emam, Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Internal Medicine Department and the Kidney and Urology Center, and Supervisor of the Clinical Pharmacy Unit at the Alexandria Main University Hospital (AMUH). While the second topic tackled bridging the gap between academia & clinical practice to overcome malpractice in psychiatry. It was delivered by Dr. Nancy Ali Hafez, Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Neuropsychiatry Department, Alexandria University Hospitals, and Lecturer Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacy Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University.

 

These two lectures and fruitful discussions, provided a quick review of some clinical databases and the role of the clinical pharmacist in the management of multiple drugs for kidney diseases from the perspective of clinical pharmacology. In addition to discussing how to eliminate the gap between academic and clinical practice to overcome malpractice in psychiatry. The audience enjoyed fruitful discussions and lectures.
