AI Risks and Media Disinformation

PUA’s Faculty of Mass Communication hosted Prof. Dr. Samah El-Mohammady, Professor of Journalism and Academic Director of the Digital Media Program at Cairo University, for a specialized lecture titled “Digital Platforms and AI Uses: From Fabrication and Faking to Media Disinformation.” The event drew significant attendance and active engagement from students keen on the shifts within the digital media landscape.

The lecture highlighted the ethical and professional challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence, particularly regarding deepfakes and the creation of fabricated content, alongside methods to counter media disinformation across digital platforms. This hosting reflects the Faculty’s commitment to exposing students to the latest professional issues and equipping them with the critical and technical tools necessary to distinguish between authentic and misleading content in the digital transformation era.
