Trend from Scratch Workshop
In line with PUA’s commitment to integrating artistic education with sustainability and recycling principles, the Faculty of Arts and Design hosted a specialized workshop titled “Trend from Scratch.” Organized under the supervision of the Student Activities Department, the event engaged academic staff and design students passionate about sustainable fashion.
Dr. Marwa Issa presented the core framework of the upcycling project, demonstrating techniques for repurposing fabric scraps and textile waste into modern, trend-setting fashion designs that balance aesthetic quality, creativity, and environmental responsibility. Practical sessions highlighted the importance of utilizing unused fabric remnants through innovative recycling methods, enabling the creation of unique garments while emphasizing a designer’s ability to transform basic raw materials into high-value artistic creations.
The initiative highlights the active role of Faculty students in introducing innovative concepts aligned with global trends toward sustainable fashion and industrial waste reduction. PUA continues to empower emerging designers to integrate eco-friendly standards into creative practice, bridging artistic excellence with environmental stewardship.
