Students of PUA’s Faculty of Pharmacy conducted an academic visit to the Arab Company for Pharmaceuticals and Medicinal plants (MEPACO) in Al Sharqia Governorate. The visit aims to link the content of the courses taught in the Drugs and Medicinal Plants Department to the applied professional life. In return, this will be reflected in raising students’ efficiency and competitiveness, and linking them to the labor market.

The students enjoyed a tour of the company’s units, where they passed through all stages of production of the drugs extracted from a natural source. The tour began with a visit to the medicinal plants farm, then the liquid extracts preparation unit, the dry extracts preparation unit, and modern carbon dioxide extraction.

At the end, the students went to the Quality Assurance Unit, where they learned about the modern devices used in the analysis and control of raw materials and the final product of herbal products, and in compiling the final reports.

The trip was a culmination of the Faculty’s efforts to provide students with more skills and practices directly.
