PUA hosted the Ibero-American Forum for 2nd consecutive year, in the presence of the ambassadors of Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. In addition to the consulates of Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, Peru and Colombia. With the participation of students from the Spanish Language Department of the Faculty of Languages and Translation.

The event was supervised by Prof. Dr. Sahar Hammouda, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Hala Awad, Head of the Spanish Language Department, T. A. Rania Refaat, Faculty’s International Relations Coordinator, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mennatallah Gowayed, PUA’s International Relations Director.

The event was opened by PUA’s President, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, who gave a speech stressing the significance of studying the Spanish language. This is due to its wide spread throughout the world, to open new horizons for cooperation, and promote knowledge and cultural exchange. He also expressed his pride in the presence of the Spanish Department at PUA’s Faculty of Languages and Translation. It is a unique department and the only specialized place where Spanish language is taught in Alexandria.

Furthermore, Prof. Mohieldin honored the guests by presenting them with souvenir shields. This was followed by a closing speech by Prof. Dr. Sahar Hammouda, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation. Through such speech, Prof. Dr. Hammouda, expressed her pleasure with the success of the forum. She also emphasized that it was just the beginning for a fruitful future cooperation between PUA and Ibero American countries.

Further, the ambassadors gave a speech expressing their pleasure that PUA organized this forum for the 2md consecutive year. The students of the Spanish Language Department, however, presented a research on the origin and impact of the Spanish language in Egypt. This was done with the assistance and supervision teaching assistants, namely: T. A. Mayada Al Kayyal, T. A. Raghda Majid, and T. A. Lamis Louay.
