“I Am a Lifelong Learner” Initiative

Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) held an extensive meeting with Mr. Mohamed Fahmy Mohamed Mohamed, Director of the Population Unit and Head of the UNESCO Cities Focal Point in Alexandria Governorate. This strategic meeting activates PUA’s initiative to enhance its societal role, embed a culture of sustainable learning, and build partnerships supporting sustainable development goals.

The meeting focused on operational mechanisms for implementing UNESCO’s “I Am a Lifelong Learner” initiative by aligning its field activities with local community priorities. Key discussion topics included promoting environmental awareness and public hygiene, while embedding principles of sustainability and continuous education among university and school students to prepare environmentally conscious future generations.

Furthermore, both sides planned integrated awareness programs, alongside health and social convoys targeting various community segments, while driving student volunteer participation across Alexandria. The meeting concluded with an agreement to initiate necessary procedures for signing a formal cooperation protocol between PUA and the UNESCO Cities Focal Point in Alexandria, unifying development efforts and expanding educational and community outreach initiatives.
