Green Recycled Models Competition

Pharos University in Alexandria continues the activities of its fourth environmental campaign, “Green Pharos”. The Green Pharos Committee at the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology hosted the “Best Recycling Model Competition”. The event encouraged students to develop solutions combining environmental sustainability with social technology.

The results culminated in awarding first place to a sensor-based “Smart Cane for the Visually Impaired”. This project offers an interactive device designed to help visually impaired individuals detect obstacles during movement, enhancing their independence and mobility. Additionally, a Plastic Sorting Device secured tied first place for its contribution to automated plastic waste sorting. The system facilitates recycling efficiency, reduces landfill waste, and conserves natural resources.

The winning projects illustrate student capabilities in leveraging technology to address pressing environmental and societal challenges. The first prototype integrates tech accessibility for people with disabilities, while the second optimizes plastic waste management. This competition highlights the commitment of PUA’s Green Pharos Committee to fostering innovation. PUA continues to promote sustainability and practical eco-friendly solutions that protect the environment and improve quality of life.
