Effective Communication and Conflict Prevention

Within the framework of joint strategic cooperation with the Francophone University Agency (AUF), and reflecting the university’s commitment to human capital investment as a cornerstone of institutional growth, Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) hosted a specialized workshop titled Effective Communication and Mediation for the Prevention of Conflict Situations”. For two days, Prof. Dr. Leila Kastali from Saint Joseph University in Lebanon, delivered the workshop for the faculty members, followed by an additional day dedicated to administrative staff, including laboratory assistants, student affairs specialists, and librarians. The workshop focused on fostering a stimulating university environment built on constructive dialogue and modern mediation tools, ensuring that professional disputes are managed with high-level expertise to balance operational requirements with the maintenance of positive workplace relationships.

The workshop addressed strategic pillars including influential communication methods and root-cause analysis of conflicts within educational institutions, with a focus on early intervention mechanisms and advanced negotiation skills. This scientific content was reinforced through practical models and real-world case studies, enabling participants to bridge the gap between academic theory and field application. Additionally, a specialized training program was conducted for university officials, including deans, department heads, academic advisors, and center directors, aimed at enhancing leadership roles in managing professional differences and transforming conflicts into creative paths that support integrated institutional cooperation.

The workshop achieved a significant positive impact by raising awareness among participants regarding professional containment and handling complex situations, thereby transforming challenges into genuine opportunities for performance improvement. It further developed coordination and integration skills across various departments, ultimately enhancing the quality of services provided within the university. This event aligns with PUA’s strategy to strengthen international partnerships and embed a culture of mediation as a fundamental pillar for administrative and academic excellence, ensuring sustained quality and reinforcing the university’s position as a stable, progressive educational environment that meets global standards.
