Designing Awareness Infographics on Children’s Digital Addiction
PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design hosted a specialized workshop on designing awareness infographics to highlight the dangers of digital addiction among children. Held under the supervision of PUA’s Student Activities Department, the workshop aimed to equip students with practical skills to utilize design as a medium for addressing contemporary social and awareness issues.
Dr. Amira Salah delivered a detailed explanation of the significance of graphic design and infographics as effective visual media for simplifying complex information and delivering awareness messages in an engaging, easily accessible manner. The session explored the primary risks associated with excessive digital screen usage among children, including social isolation, impaired focus and attention spans, sleep disorders, and their overall impact on children’s social interaction and psychological and behavioral development.
The practical design exercise focused on presenting actionable guidelines to help parents safeguard their children against digital addiction by regulating screen time, encouraging participation in athletic and social activities, and providing age-appropriate educational and recreational alternatives, alongside emphasizing the vital role of parental monitoring and conscious supervision. This activity underscores the Faculty’s commitment to advancing community awareness, developing student creative potential, and employing design as an impactful tool for addressing pressing modern issues to build a more conscious society.
