Cybercrime and Legislative Challenges

Crimes are no longer confined to the physical world; They have expanded into digital space. These developments present complex legal challenges that require comprehensive awareness. Driven by the need to advance legal literacy, PUA’s Faculty of Legal Studies and International Transactions held a seminar on cybercrime. The event took place within the faculty’s cultural season, where Counsellor Osama El-Atfy, Judge at the Cairo Court of Appeal, served as the keynote speaker.

The seminar addressed critical issues in digital crime, Discussions focused on safeguarding personal and banking accounts. Counsellor El-Atfy highlighted modern forms of cyber fraud and extortion; He outlined new categories of cybercrime in digital environments. Furthermore, he explained criminal liability arising from technology misuse. He also detailed legal mechanisms to combat these violations under relevant legislation.

The event offered students a valuable platform for discussion as participants asked key questions regarding practical legal challenges. Students gained direct insights from the judge’s legal expertise. These discussions enhance analytical skills among legal scholars, they also deepen understanding of modern legislative updates and digital safety.

This initiative underscores the commitment of PUA’s Community Service and Environmental Development Center (CSED).
