A Visit to the Handicrafts Exhibition
Responding to an official invitation received by Pharos University in Alexandria from the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center organized a field visit for Faculty of Arts and Design students to the “Turathna” Handicrafts and Heritage Exhibition. This initiative aligns with PUA’s commitment to enriching field-based learning and connecting academic studies with industry practices.
The visit included 37 students across various academic departments, received by Mr. Mohamed Abdel Haleem, Assistant General Manager of Public Relations at MSMEDA, alongside Mr. Tamer Helmy, Deputy Director of the Entrepreneurship Department. Mr. Helmy delivered an introductory presentation outlining the exhibition’s objectives, emphasizing the nature of participating enterprises and the economic significance of supporting traditional craft sectors.
Throughout the tour, students explored diverse handcrafted models and traditional heritage designs. Participants analyzed methods for product development utilizing creative approaches, raw materials, and modern techniques. This direct engagement enhances student capabilities in design, innovation, and entrepreneurship. PUA continues to promote specialized field visits to prepare graduates for professional success in creative industries.
