PUA’s Faculty of Engineering pays close attention to developing the imaginative and creative ability of students, and helping them link the architectural design theories with practical experiences. In this context, the Faculty organized a field visit for 3rd year students (6th semester) of the Architectural Engineering Department to the Grand Plaza Hotel. This visit aimed to introduce the students to the basics of designing hotels and their spaces.

The visit also aimed to expand the students’ perception and develop their knowledge of the design and construction principles related to the design of hotels, its service areas, rooms, and various spaces.

During the visit, the students visited the various spaces of the hotel, and measured some of the dimensions and heights of those spaces. Further, they drew these spaces to use in their individual design projects. In addition, students learned about the functional relationships between these spaces, escape exits, and various entrances and their connection to the building.
