Narcotics Risks and Negative Impact on Society

PUA’s Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology hosted an awareness seminar titled “The Harms of Narcotics on Society.” The event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and addiction and their devastating effects on individuals and communities, in line with the awareness-raising role of PUA’s Community Service and Environmental Development Center (CSED). During the session, the keynote speaker, Ahmed Salah, reviewed the hazardous dimensions of narcotics proliferation, stressing the need for collective efforts between educational and social institutions to curb this phenomenon and protect youth.

The seminar explored key themes, including the severe physical, psychological, and social impacts of addiction, highlighting the role of academic institutions in prevention and early awareness. The discussion touched upon the importance of promoting positive values among youth as the primary line of defense against substance abuse. CSED indicated that this seminar is part of a series of events aimed at elevating health awareness within the university community, empowering students to spread a preventive culture both on and off-campus to protect their surrounding environment.
