In a move that reflects its commitment to a more sustainable tourism sector, PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management has launched “The Sustainable Future Festival.” The event celebrates World Tourism Day 2025, held this year under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The festival aims to turn the sustainability slogan into a tangible reality through a unique educational and creative experience.
The festival’s diverse activities include:
- From Awareness to Action: A short film produced by the students will be screened, highlighting the importance of balancing the enjoyment of our planet’s beauty with its preservation for future generations.
- Idea Incubator: Launching a “Sustainable Tourism Projects” competition for the faculty’s students to select the most innovative and feasible ideas that serve the local community and contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals, such as decent work, responsible consumption, and climate action.
- Knowledge for Change: A specialized workshop led by local and international experts will be held for faculty members and students to provide them with the latest strategies and practices in sustainable development.
- Celebrating Local Heritage: Highlighting local artisans and heritage projects in Alexandria to emphasize the role of tourism in supporting cultural identity and economically empowering communities.
This festival confirms that PUA goes beyond mere celebration; it is committed to preparing a new generation of tourism and hospitality leaders who possess the awareness and ability to create positive change, balancing profitability with purpose and the pleasure of tourism with the preservation of our planet.
