During the National Reading Project activities held at Al-Qirsh Camp in Ismailia, Dr. Islam Al-Shami, the General Coordinator of the project at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, emphasized the necessity of upgrading organizational structures within the university environment. He stressed the importance of holding expanded coordination meetings to appoint a “General Coordinator” for each university. This individual would be responsible for the strategic linking of various faculties and departments, ensuring seamless internal and external communication, and facilitating efficient decision-making and project execution.
The discussions also focused on activating the roles of faculty-level coordinators by linking them directly to the University’s General Coordinator, while fostering integration with student affairs departments to increase participation rates. Regarding technological advancement, the meeting explored ways to monitor student activities through modern “digital monitoring” tools and organized introductory seminars for both Egyptian and international students to promote cultural diversity and intellectual exchange on campus. Dr. Al-Shami noted that universities achieving high participation rates have been granted additional support in recognition of their excellence.
To ensure transparency, a rigorous system of weekly periodic reports was agreed upon to track actual project progress, alongside intensified field visits for direct engagement with students and administrative staff. Participants concluded that the sustainability of university projects fundamentally depends on developing technical infrastructure, training coordinators on digital tools, and clearly defining roles within task forces, thereby establishing a culture of responsibility and collective action within educational institutions.
