As part of the continuous efforts by PUA’s International Relations Department to foster cooperation and attract new partners for its various faculties, the Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted a delegation from Shandong University in China. The meeting aimed to discuss establishing joint cooperation in the Chinese language between Shandong University’s School of International Education and PUA’s Chinese Language Department.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Osama Madani, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Menatallah Gowayed, Director of PUA’s International Relations Department; Prof. Dr. Hassanien Fahmy Hussein, Head of the Faculty’s Chinese Language Department; and Dr. Sylvia Elias, the Faculty’s International Relations Coordinator.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chinese university representative gave a presentation about their institution, followed by Dr. Sylvia Elias’s presentation about PUA’s Chinese Language Department.
The Faculty of Languages and Translation also organized a tour for the participants, which included visits to the faculty’s laboratories and the Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) center, in addition to a tour of the university campus.
At the conclusion of the visit, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, PUA’s President, and his vice presidents received the Chinese university delegation. Both universities reached a consensus on enhancing student exchange for Pharos University’s Chinese Language Department and attracting Chinese students to study in the Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) program at PUA in Egypt. At the end of the meeting, both parties exchanged souvenirs, reflecting their keenness to deepen cultural and academic ties.
