Digital Phobia and Mental Health Challenges

PUA’s Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted a specialized awareness seminar on “Digital Phobia.” This event falls within PUA’s ongoing commitment to discussing modern issues related to rapid technological development and its direct impact on the mental health of youth.

During the seminar, Dr. Shaimaa Serag explored the concept of digital phobia as a growing psychological phenomenon linked to the intensive use of smart devices and social media. The lecture addressed the feelings of anxiety, stress, and isolation associated with this phenomenon, highlighting the primary causes and emphasizing the need to adopt safe and balanced methods of technology use to avoid digital addiction.

PUA’s Community Service Center stated that this event is part of its continuous efforts to enhance community awareness and build youth capacity to face psychological challenges in the digital age. Further, PUA underscores the importance of continuing such educational encounters for their vital role in protecting students and developing their self-control skills, ensuring a balance between technological openness and psychological stability.
