Awareness and Free Health Screenings at Green Plaza Mall

Activating the vital community role adopted by PUA’s Faculty of Pharmacy, and as part of its commitment to spreading health awareness beyond the campus, the Faculty’s Student Union held a comprehensive Health Awareness Day at Green Plaza Mall. This initiative embodied the university’s dedication to building bridges with the Alexandrian community and providing primary healthcare services that enhance public quality of life.

The campaign featured an integrated package of free medical services for mall visitors and staff, including precise blood sugar and blood pressure testing, as well as weight, height, and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements. The initiative extended beyond physical screenings to provide specialized nutritional counseling and general advice on preventive health measures and chronic disease avoidance. Furthermore, a significant portion of the campaign was dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of antibiotic misuse, explaining correct usage practices and ways to prevent “Antimicrobial Resistance” (AMR), a growing global health threat, to ensure rational drug use within the community.

The campaign successfully reached over 200 individuals across various age groups, who expressed their gratitude for the free services and the high level of professionalism and communication skills displayed by PUA’s pharmacy students. This event reflects the faculty’s strategy of honing students’ field skills through direct engagement in community service, contributing to the preparation of distinguished pharmacists who possess the humanitarian sense and knowledge necessary to serve their country. It also reaffirms PUA’s position as a leading educational institution that prioritizes community service and environmental development.
