As part of the its plan to bridge academic and practical aspects, the Tourism Department at PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management organized a field trip to Siwa Oasis, with student participation under the supervision of distinguished faculty members and teaching assistants.
Students traveled to Siwa Oasis, one of Egypt’s premier tourist destinations, where they experienced a unique journey combining history, nature, and local culture. The program included educational and cultural visits to several prominent landmarks:
Dakrour Mountain: One of Siwa’s most famous geographical landmarks, renowned for its therapeutic and folk rituals.
Temple of Amun: An ancient archaeological witness narrating the greatness of ancient Siwan civilization.
Shali Fortress: A historical city built from kershef, reflecting the environmental construction genius of the oasis.
Cleopatra’s Spring: A natural flowing water source.
Fatnas Island: An enchanting natural island that served as a rest stop during sunset.
Salt Lakes: With their shimmering waters and unique therapeutic climate.
Desert Safari: An adventure through sand dunes with four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Local Market Tour: To explore handicrafts and Siwan heritage.
Students concluded their first and second days with a traditional Siwan dinner in authentic Bedouin atmosphere, adding a cultural and human dimension to the experience.
Students expressed their joy in participating, emphasizing that the trip transcended being merely a visit, but rather constituted a real classroom in the heart of nature, enhancing their skills in dealing with different tourism environments and opening new horizons for understanding eco-tourism and cultural tourism.
