A Field Visit to Wood Station Factory
As part of the practical application for the Building Construction 3 course and its commitment to enhancing students’ field expertise, PUA’s Architectural Engineering Department had a specialized field visit for second-year students to the “Wood Station” factory. This facility is recognized as a leading center for modern furniture manufacturing and wood industries. The visit took place under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakinam Nabil, the course professor, along with the teaching assistant team, who provided technical guidance throughout the tour.
The visit provided a detailed overview of all stages involved in manufacturing wooden furniture, doors, and windows, allowing students to closely observe the production sequence from initial design to the final product. The tour also featured a comprehensive introduction to various types of natural wood and the properties of engineered woods, alongside a thorough explanation of the modern tools and machinery utilized in carpentry and shaping. This direct engagement with the manufacturing environment enabled students to grasp the executive challenges and standard criteria that ensure the quality of architectural and interior products.
This field excursion significantly contributed to the students’ academic and professional development by successfully bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in lectures and practical application in production sites. The experience enriched the students’ technical understanding and enhanced their executive skills, empowering them to create designs that are not only innovative but also feasible and aligned with the latest building technologies and wood industry standards in the contemporary market. This initiative reaffirms the university’s vision of preparing graduates who are well-versed in the requirements of professional practice.
