Sustainable Food for Better Health
The Community Service Center, in partnership with the Green Pharos Committee at the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology, hosted an awareness seminar titled “Sustainable Food for Better Health.” This event is part of the third Green Pharos environmental campaign, aimed at linking sustainability with public health. Dr. Sally Salah, Lecturer in the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety Technology, explored essential methods for safe food preservation and canning, emphasizing their role in reducing food waste and optimizing energy consumption.
The seminar provided a detailed explanation of food storage materials and their health standards, including a guide to decoding the symbols and numbers on plastic containers to determine their safety and recyclability. The sessions focused on best dietary practices that balance human health with environmental protection, particularly in safe storage techniques. The event saw significant student engagement through dynamic discussions on integrating sustainable nutrition into daily life, reflecting PUA’s success in promoting sustainability as a cornerstone of comprehensive development.
