In line with its commitment to linking academic education with community service, PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management celebrated World Tourism Day, which falls on September 27 annually, under the World Tourism Organization’s theme for this year: “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”

The events embodied the faculty’s vision to support sustainable tourism concepts as an integrated approach that balances people, planet, and prosperity. The program included a range of integrated activities:

  • A short video titled “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation” was screened on the faculty’s official displays and digital platforms.
  • Interactive activities were organized, bringing together students, faculty members, and the local community.

The celebration aimed to emphasize tourism’s vital role in economic and social development and job creation. It also called for adopting responsible practices that prioritize protection of natural resources, preservation of cultural heritage, and addressing environmental challenges like climate change.

Thus, the celebration served as a platform to enhance students’ awareness of the importance of integrating sustainability concepts into the tourism sector, embodying PUA’s mission to prepare graduates capable of leading the transformation towards a more conscious and responsible future.

The faculty expressed pride in having its World Tourism Day events featured on the official website of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism). This recognition honors its efforts to integrate green principles into the educational process and affirms its commitment to preparing professionals who support the future of eco-friendly tourism and the achievement of 2030 Green Friendship goals.
