In response to the invitation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) participated in the coordination training program for the “National Reading Project.” The program, specifically designed for university coordinators and student affairs directors, was held at Al-Qirsh Camp in Ismailia, where Dr. Haitham Mohamed Mostafa, Director of the Student Activities Department, represented the university.

The participation aimed to align PUA’s efforts with the ministry’s instructions regarding the project’s strategic vision and its effective implementation within the university. Furthermore, the program focused on post-execution follow-up mechanisms to ensure the project’s goals are fully met. The event featured high-level attendance, including Prof. Dr. Karim Hammam, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Student Activities, Dr. Islam Al-Shamy, General Coordinator of the project at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Prof. Dr. Abdu Ibrahim, Director of Educational Projects at the Scientific Research Foundation, alongside the renowned Egyptian artist Sameh Al-Sreity.

The training sessions yielded fruitful results, establishing a comprehensive roadmap to enhance the cultural and intellectual awareness of university students, in line with the national vision for human development. Pharos University is currently preparing to implement these directives by coordinating with faculty representatives to activate the initiative and encourage student engagement in this knowledge-based system, reaffirming the university’s role in fostering reading and scientific research skills among its students.
