A Specialized Workshop on Light and Shadow

As part of its distinguished student activities, PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design organized a workshop entitled “Light and Shadow,” prepared and presented by Eng. Nadine El-Masry and Eng. Shaima Abu Zeid, both teaching assistants in the Painting Department.
The workshop witnessed significant interaction from the faculty’s students, aiming to enhance students’ understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of light and shadow techniques in artwork.
The workshop focused on studying the effect of light and shadow on composition and visual dimension in paintings, and discussed how to use light as an expressive tool to clarify artistic meanings. The workshop also included practical exercises on how to direct lighting and draw shadows, contributing to improving students’ artistic and expressive techniques in painting.
This workshop comes within a series of events organized by the faculty with the aim of developing students’ skills and enhancing their artistic abilities in line with developments in fine arts and labor market needs.
