A Cross-cultural Day
PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management hosted a “Cross-Cultural Day” event, embodying a living model of diversity and cultural openness within the Faculty. The event featured the participation of eight countries: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Greece, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Ireland, through interactive experiences that showcased traditional cuisines, languages, and folkloric arts.
This event reflects the growing international dimension within the faculty’s strategy, as it hosts international students from Saudi Arabia and France, alongside various nationalities such as Greece and Lebanon. This demographic creates a rich educational environment that fosters concepts of global tourism and human interaction. The event further deepened this global perspective through the participation of visiting professors from Ireland and Spain, allowing for an academic and cultural exchange that highlights tourism as a bridge between nations rather than merely a field of study.
The celebration offered students and faculty members the opportunity to sample authentic dishes reflecting the historical identity of each culture, in a direct sensory experience linking geographical and tourism knowledge with tangible reality. Moving beyond traditional entertainment, the event aimed to solidify values of cross-cultural understanding, build bridges of mutual respect, and open new horizons toward preparing graduates qualified to lead and work in the global tourism and hospitality industry, ensuring their capacity to understand and fulfill the needs of diverse cultures with flexibility and professionalism.
