Visiting Cairo’s Historic Landmarks

The Tourism Department at PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, went on an extensive field trip to Cairo as part of the academic activities for the Spring 2025-2026 semester. This initiative activates the Faculty’s vision centered on enhancing applied learning and linking theoretical curricula with direct practical reality.

The itinerary featured a package of the capital’s most prominent heritage and historic landmarks, led by the Citadel of Saladin, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, Al-Muizz li-Din Allah al-Fatimi Street, and the historic Khan el-Khalili district. This exposure provided students with a golden opportunity to interact directly with these global tourist destinations and conduct field analyses of their assets. The visit aimed to develop students’ cognitive skills in understanding and managing tourism sites, enhance their national awareness regarding cultural heritage preservation, and refine their tour guiding skills and professional communication mechanisms.

The field study was closely linked to several specialized academic courses, including Tourism and Globalization, Tourism Impact and Sustainability, and Travel Agency and Front Desk Management. This live experience contributed to sharpening the students’ field analysis capabilities, fostering teamwork, and acquiring practical expertise that boosts their readiness to compete in the labor market. The faculty administration reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining these purposeful activities, which form a core pillar in preparing qualified tourism professionals capable of meeting local and international industry demands.
