An Occupational Health and Safety Workshop

The Crises and Disasters Committee at PUA’s Faculty of Pharmacy held a specialized training workshop titled “Occupational Health and Safety Standards,” in collaboration with PUA’s Occupational Health and Safety Department. This initiative reflects the faculty’s ongoing commitment to establishing safety protocols within educational and research facilities. To maximize reach, the workshop was delivered using a hybrid format, allowing in-person attendance alongside real-time online streaming for graduates and community stakeholders.

The workshop drew broad participation from faculty members, assistant staff, administrative personnel, students, and alumni. Eng. Abdel-Latif Tarek, the workshop speaker, addressed core modules including safe chemical handling techniques and precision laboratory equipment operation, while presenting advanced personal protective equipment (PPE) and its proper application. Additionally, the event included practical demonstrations on operating fire extinguishers and executing emergency response procedures.

The event concluded with an open panel discussion addressing participant inquiries, followed by a post-training impact assessment survey. The evaluation revealed high satisfaction rates, with participants commending the content’s relevance to real-world laboratory requirements and its value in enhancing their preventive skills for a safer academic environment.
