As part of its commitment to the “Green Pharos” strategy and advancing environmental sustainability, PUA’s Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Etman, held an extensive meeting with representatives from Tawasol, a company specializing in renewable energy solutions and smart technologies.

The discussion focused on enhancing the use of renewable energy within the university campus, particularly in areas such as solar panels and smart lighting systems. Attendees reviewed the progress achieved thus far in the “Green Pharos” initiative and its impact on reducing energy consumption and achieving the university’s environmental sustainability goals. The meeting also explored the potential for expanding the application of these modern technologies in the future to sustainably meet the campus’s growing energy needs.

An agreement was reached to develop a joint implementation plan that includes feasibility studies for renewable energy projects, including solar panels and smart lighting. Additionally, a joint follow-up committee will be established to ensure the execution of recommendations and the achievement of sustainable environmental objectives within the university’s plan.

The visiting team also toured the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Artificial Intelligence to assess the implementation of smart screens in lecture halls and the feasibility of establishing an integrated smart laboratory within the faculty.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Etman emphasized the importance of collaborating with specialized partners in the field of renewable energy, expressing PUA’s eagerness to continue enhancing the use of solar panels across its facilities to provide clean and efficient energy. He also highlighted the adoption of smart lighting systems to reduce waste and achieve higher efficiency in electricity consumption.

For their part, Tawasol expressed full readiness to support PUA in implementing its ambitious plans under the “Green Pharos” strategy, commending the university’s forward-looking approach to sustainability and the use of smart technologies.
