In line with PUA’s commitment to preserving Egyptian cultural identity and supporting innovative community initiatives, PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, in collaboration with the Faculty of Languages and Translation, launched a research project titled: “The Electronic Archive of Traditional Crafts and Local Foods in Alexandria – A Beginning.”

The project aims to document the traditional crafts and popular foods that characterize the Alexandrian environment through the creation of a comprehensive electronic archive. This archive allows future generations to learn about this heritage and safeguard it from extinction. The project integrated research with community application, which enhanced its impact and cultural value, highlighting the university’s methodology in linking scientific research with direct community service.

As a result of its excellence and strong connection to community service and heritage preservation, the project secured first place among Pharos University’s faculties in the “Best Community Research Project” category. This success reflects the effective collaboration between the faculties in presenting an innovative model that fosters cultural belonging and serves the local community, affirming the university’s capability to lead initiatives with profound societal impact.
