With growing interest in environmental issues, PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management organized a workshop titled “The Importance of Afforestation” as part of the second phase of the Green Pharos campaign. The workshop aimed to enhance environmental awareness among students and faculty members by underscoring the vital role afforestation plays in improving air quality, reducing pollution, expanding green spaces, and enhancing biodiversity.

A series of scientific lectures delivered by environmental experts explored the positive impact of trees on human health. Participants also discussed ways to foster cooperation among various community sectors to implement sustainable afforestation initiatives, particularly within the university campus and its surrounding areas.

Speakers emphasized the pivotal role that PUA plays in promoting a culture of environmental responsibility through a range of activities, most notably the Green Pharos campaign, which advocates for sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.

The workshop concluded with a field tour aimed at introducing different tree species and highlighting their environmental significance, encouraging all attendees to take an active role in supporting afforestation efforts both within and beyond the university.

This event is part of an ongoing series of initiatives organized by PUA to spread environmental awareness across the student body and the wider academic community.
