PUA and Senghor Celebrate JMCA

In a vibrant display of African solidarity and international academic cooperation, Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) participated in the 2026 World Day for African and Afro-Descendant Culture (JMCA), hosted by Senghor University. Established by UNESCO in 2019, this global day highlights the cultural richness of the African continent and its significant contributions to global peace and intercultural dialogue.

The celebrations took place at Senghor University’s new campus in Borg El Arab under the theme: “Cultural heritage, progress and harmony: Engaging African youth to strengthen peace in the world.” PUA was represented by a delegation of 50 students from the Faculties of Mass Communication, and Languages and Translation, supervised by distinguished faculty members. The students engaged in cultural activities and sessions designed to connect African youth with their heritage and empower them as active agents in fostering global harmony.

This participation underscores PUA’s strategic commitment to broadening its students’ horizons and enhancing their understanding of African cultural diplomacy. For students of Languages and Mass Communication, the visit offered a unique opportunity to experience African diversity firsthand and practice international communication within a prestigious global academic environment like Senghor University. Such initiatives are vital in preparing a generation of graduates who are deeply aware of regional cooperation and capable of contributing to the continent’s intellectual and cultural future.
