Impact of Typographic Elements on Posters
PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design hosted a specialized seminar, titled “Typographic Elements and their Effectiveness on Poster Design.” The event was held under the supervision of the Student Activities Department, with the participation of students and professionals interested in design and visual communication. The seminar explored the growing significance of typography in an era defined by the rapid proliferation and evolution of visual media. Speakers underscored how typography has emerged as a powerful visual language capable of conveying messages in a direct and compelling manner. They further emphasized that the deliberate and informed use of typographic elements greatly enhances the impact of posters both in terms of message clarity and visual appeal.
A central focus of the seminar was the relationship between legibility and design aesthetics, with speakers stressing that striking the right balance between the two is a cornerstone of any successful advertising work. Typeface selection, sizing, and spatial distribution within a composition were all identified as factors that directly shape how a message is received and understood by its audience. In addition, the seminar drew attention to typography’s role beyond aesthetics, highlighting its capacity to drive audience engagement. Through considered design choices, typographic arrangements can elicit a range of responses aligned with the strategic objectives of a campaign, whether awareness-driven or commercial in nature.
