As part of PUA’s third environmental campaign, branded “Green Pharos,” the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management held its Orientation Day for new students of the current academic year. The event aimed to introduce students to university life while integrating environmental sustainability values into their academic journey.
The day was attended by high-ranking officials, supervised by Prof. Dr. Nourhan Fanaki, Vice President for Educational Process Monitoring and Quality Assurance, and attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Nassar, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ghada Bassiouni, Vice Dean, along with faculty members.
During the session, Dr. Ahmed Magdy, Faculty’s representative for the “Green Pharos” committee, delivered a speech introducing the committee’s vision and activities. He confirmed PUA’s drive to become an eco-friendly university by disseminating a culture of sustainability among its students.
Dr. Magdy highlighted the students’ crucial role in adhering to correct environmental behaviors, including rationalizing energy and water consumption, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and actively participating in environmental and community activities.
The “Green Pharos” team also provided practical guidelines to the new students on how to help make the campus more sustainable, encouraging them to become environmental ambassadors both inside and outside the faculty.
The event concluded by affirming that the students’ engagement in the “Green Pharos” initiatives is a significant step toward supporting PUA’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Egypt Vision 2030.
