First Moot Court Simulating ICJ Proceedings
Activating the joint cooperation protocol between Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) and Menoufia University, and as part of the ongoing professional development for law students, PUA’s Faculty of Legal Studies and International Transactions at PUA hosted the “First Moot Court Competition.” Held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mohie El-Din, PUA’s President, and the guidance of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Saidy, Dean of the Faculty. the competition took place at PUA’s Moot Court hall, showcasing a high-level legal contest characterized by discipline and professionalism in line with international academic standards.
Dr. El-Saidy welcomed the delegation from Menoufia University’s Faculty of Law, headed by Prof. Dr. Abu El-Kheir Attia, Dean and former Head of the Public International Law Department, along with Dr. Nourhan Moussa, the competition coordinator from Menoufia University. The simulation focused on the landmark case filed by South Africa against Zionist Israel before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), providing an honorable academic experience that impressed the judging panel and attendees with the students’ exceptional performance and profound legal analysis.
The prestigious judging panel included Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Khalifa, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at Alexandria University (Chair), Prof. Dr. Abu El-Kheir Attia, Dean of Menoufia Law (Member), and Prof. Dr. Walid Fahmy, Head of PUA’s Public International Law Department (Member). The panel praised the participants’ legal maturity and their ability to craft rigorous legal pleadings, demonstrating their readiness to excel in international legal forums.
The event concluded with a tribute to the students for their extraordinary efforts and dedication throughout the intensive training period. They successfully translated theoretical knowledge into a professional performance that embodied the values of justice and the rule of law. This competition reaffirms Pharos University’s commitment to providing realistic training platforms that build well-rounded legal personas capable of representing the nation in complex international cases.
