The Pharmacognosy and Natural Products Department at PUA’s Faculty of Pharmacy hosted a virtual lecture by Dr. Paolo Scognamiglio from the University of Naples Federico II in Italy. The lecture, aimed at third-year students taking the Pharmacognosy Chemistry course, was held under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Pharmacognosy Department, Prof. Dr. Magid El-Ghazouly, and coordinated by PUA’s International Relations Department.
Titled “Metabolomics Analysis: A Complete Overview: From Basics to GNPS Exploration,” the lecture offered an in-depth exploration of metabolomics, covering fundamental concepts and advanced analytical techniques. The session discussed the application of the GNPS (Global Natural Product Social Molecular Networking) network in identifying and classifying natural products. The lecture also highlighted the role of metabolomics in pharmaceutical sciences and reviewed the latest computational methods for data analysis and natural product discovery, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to staying abreast of global scientific advancements.
