Cairo Design Week
Driven by PUA’s commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and professional practice, the Architectural Engineering Department had an inspiring field visit for senior students to the ” Cairo Design Week” activities in the historic district of Zamalek. Under the guidance of Dr. Taghreed Ahmed, Professor of Interior Design, the students embarked on a comprehensive tour designed to enrich their creative perspectives and professional awareness. The itinerary included visits to the Museum of Islamic Ceramics, the iconic Aisha Fahmy Palace, the Embassy of the Netherlands, and the Greater Cairo Public Library. Furthermore, the students explored several residential units showcasing exclusive furniture pieces by renowned contemporary designers, providing them with direct exposure to the forefront of the modern design industry in Egypt.
The visit also featured an immersive walking tour through the streets of Zamalek, allowing students to discover the district’s unique architectural heritage and iconic landmarks that define its historical character. This architectural journey served as a significant source of visual inspiration, enabling students to connect their academic studies with the realities of the actual design market and its latest trends. This experience was instrumental in enhancing their analytical skills and spatial understanding, which are essential for their upcoming professional careers.
