A Field Visit to New Alamein Towers
In alignment with the practical objectives of the Execution Design 3 course, PUA’s Architectural Engineering Department organized a comprehensive field visit for fourth-year students (7th Semester) to the iconic Alamein Towers in New Alamein City. This educational excursion reflects PUA’s commitment to integrating academic curricula with major national projects, providing students with a unique opportunity to witness firsthand one of the most significant architectural and engineering landmarks in the region. Such experiences are vital for developing a professional vision that aligns with the contemporary urban development taking place across the country.
The visit commenced with an informative session led by the Project’s Technical Office Manager, who provided a detailed explanation of the towers’ conceptual design and their diverse structural components. The discussion highlighted the strategic importance of the towers within the broader context of New Alamein City. Throughout the tour, students gained valuable insights into the advanced structural systems employed in skyscraper construction and were introduced to the methodologies of quantity surveying and site management for mega-projects. This exposure significantly enhanced their analytical skills in handling large-scale developments with complex technical requirements.
Furthermore, the field tour included a practical demonstration of high-end exterior and interior finishing works. Students closely observed the installation processes for glass curtain walls, false ceilings, and marble cladding, among other intricate executive details. This immersive experience was instrumental in bridging the gap between the theoretical concepts studied in lectures and their real-world applications. By observing various project stages on-site, students developed a profound understanding of the critical relationship between architectural design and the execution process, which is essential for preparing architects capable of translating blueprints into reality with precision and professionalism.
