As part of its method of linking theoretical studies with practical applications, PUA’s Architectural Engineering Department conducted a field visit for students of the Architectural Design course (EA512 – Architectural Design level 8 – Graduation Project) to the Al-Ghuri Dome in Historic Cairo.
This visit also featured a workshop at the sites designated for student projects within the historic area. The workshop involved preparing a proposal to utilize the spaces of the Al-Ghuri Dome to support cultural, touristic, and archaeological activities.
The workshop was conducted under the academic supervision of Prof. Dr. Ramadan Abdel Maqsoud and Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Ma’rouf, accompanied by T. A. Laura Nabil and Eng. Mennat Allah Sameh.
The group was welcomed by Dr. Alaa Fathy, representing the Ministry of Culture, and in direct coordination with Eng. Hamdy El-Sotouhy, Assistant Minister of Culture and Head of the Cultural Development Fund Sector, in addition to Mr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah, representing the Office of the Secretary-General of Islamic Antiquities. The workshop and visit concluded with a discussion and feedback session attended by the various parties involved.
