The Art of Memory”: Visualizing History

In a unique academic experience blending historical analysis with visual creativity, PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design, supervised by the Student Activities Department, held a workshop titled “Reading a Historical Event and Transforming It into an Artwork”. The workshop aimed to empower students with critical and analytical tools to interpret historical events—not just as rigid facts, but as raw material for contemporary creativity.

The workshop covered methodological pillars, starting with research techniques in historical sources and data analysis, leading to the mechanisms of extracting symbols and transforming them into potent visual elements. The event focused on expressive methods that enable artists to provide a “contemporary vision” of the past, thereby fostering students’ critical thinking. Additionally, the workshop featured practical applications where students translated their ideas into artistic prototypes, showcasing a remarkable ability to merge historical knowledge with innovative artistic vision.
