PUA’s Faculty of Dentistry held a distinguished scientific day titled “”Innovative Pediatric Crowns – Mastering Zirconia & Bioflex”, as part of its ongoing efforts to bridge academic knowledge with modern clinical advancements. The event featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Osama El-Shahawy from Cairo University, who explored cutting-edge techniques in cosmetic crowns for children, with a focus on zirconia and BioFlex materials. His presentation highlighted recent international research and compared their clinical benefits.

Following the lecture, a hands-on workshop —supervised by Dr. Reham Ali and Dr. Joumana from Prof. El-Shahawy’s scientific team— simulated clinical scenarios using artificial dental models. Attendees, including faculty members, postgraduate students, and internship trainees, gained practical experience in applying these innovative techniques, enhancing their ability to manage real-world cases.

Dr. Mohamed Shoukry, Director of the Faculty’s Continuing Education Center, emphasized that such events are pivotal to elevating the quality of medical education. He noted the university’s plans to expand partnerships with global research institutions to stay abreast of industry developments. “The dynamic interaction between experts and students underscores the success of our strategy to merge theory with practice,” he added, aligning this approach with the faculty’s vision to graduate globally competitive healthcare professionals.

This scientific day is part of a series of regular initiatives by the center to update curricula and equip students with innovative tools that meet evolving market demands. These efforts align with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals for healthcare sector development, reinforcing the university’s role in shaping a skilled medical workforce.
