Within the framework of PUA’s commitment to boosting environmental awareness and linking educational activities to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Faculty of Languages and Translation actively participated in organizing its Orientation Day for new students. This event was held as part of PUA’s third environmental campaign, branded “Green Pharos.” The day was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Gaber Abou Ali, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Etman, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Osama Madany, Dean of the Faculty, under the supervision of Dr. Nehal Hafez, a member of the Community Service Center.
Speeches by the Vice Presidents stressed PUA’s dedication to supporting students academically and in research while simultaneously strengthening their environmental consciousness. They emphasized that the Faculty plays a pivotal role in fostering cultural openness and conveying a positive image of the University’s environmental focus. To solidify these values, Dr. Sayed Hassouna, faculty’s “Green Pharos” representative, addressed the students, highlighting the importance of adopting eco-friendly behaviors and the role of the new generation in supporting the University’s environmental initiatives. In addition, he affirmed that environmental preservation is an essential part of a student’s responsibility to their community.
The day concluded with an introductory tour of the faculty to integrate students into university life and connect them with the environmental values that the “Green Pharos” campaign seeks to establish. This comprehensive approach reflects PUA’s commitment to sustainability, following previous efforts such as the Faculty of Physical Therapy’s seminar on “Towards a Sustainable and Eco-Friendly University” and the Faculty of Financial and Administrative Sciences’ seminar on “Green Companies: From Idea to Success,” underscoring the initiative’s inclusion across all university disciplines.
