“Genes and Teeth”: An International Lecture and Research Collaboration
In a significant scientific milestone, PUA’s Faculty of Dentistry, hosted an international scientific lecture titled “Roles of Teeth and Gum in Medical Genetics”. The faculty hosted the renowned Prof. Dr. Piranit Kantaputra, an expert in pediatric dentistry and molecular genetics. During the lecture, he explored the profound link between oral health and hereditary diseases, demonstrating how dental and gingival anomalies can serve as “genetic markers” for the early detection and diagnosis of complex genetic syndromes.
The event also marked the launch of a strategic research collaboration between Chiang Mai University and Pharos University, focusing on the study of genes associated with maxillofacial and dental deformities. This partnership aims to bolster the university’s international research standing and empower academic staff to keep pace with the latest breakthroughs in dental genetics and molecular diagnosis.
